Kia Sportage

The Kia Sportage is a small SUV that competes with the likes of the Nissan Qashqai, Renault Kadjar and Seat Ateca.
While it has been available in one form or another for more than two decades, it was the Sportage that was introduced in 2010 that was the real game-changer for Kia.
Entry-level 1 trim is pretty basic, and it’s the only Kia Sportage that doesn’t get a color screen. We’d advise you go for 2 trim, which brings a 7.0in colour touchscreen, with sat-nav and European mapping, a USB socket, a DAB radio and Bluetooth. The screen is fairly quick to respond to a prod, and there are physical shortcut buttons that make it easy to hop quickly between the various key functions.
Regarding the front space, Sportage has just as much room up front as most of its rivals. Access is good as well, the doors open fairly wide, and there is plenty of space to make it easy to slide onto the seats. The door pockets are big enough to take a small bottle of water easily, and there are two fixed cupholders behind the gearstick that’ll take most large takeaway or travel mugs.
The backseat and boot also have a lot of space so this car can easily be used by families.
As a conclusion, the Sportage is good value and has a spacious interior, but it isn’t great to drive and the 1.7 diesel engine is pretty noisy.
