With the explosive rise in the popularity of the 7 seat SUVs, you might think that the days of the 7 seat MPV is over but VW think not, this is the latest 7 seat MPV and it is as sensible as they come. It is sensible because it doesn’t try to be anything other than a simple MPV. It is designed to be family friendly , so it is big, it is boxy and it is well made. It sits between the smaller Golf Sv and the larger Sharan from the VW range and it has a whole raft of rivals including the Citroen Grand C4 Picasso, BMW 2 Series Grand Tourer and the Ford S-Max.
The back doors open nice and wide making it easy for anyone to get in and out, the middle row fold forward very lightly. Just like in its rivals it has 2 seats in the back, both of which have an ISOFIX child seat point, it has loads of head room , but it lacks knee room.
The middle row has 3 separate seats, each of them have ISOFIX points, each of them have a lever which allows them to slide them forward and backwards individually as you need it. It has pop-up tables on the back of the front seats, and thanks to the low window line it gives a spacious feeling to the passengers.
Like most VWs, the entry level Touran comes with the basics : air conditioning, Bluetooth , and roof rails, it also comes with 7 airbags and automatic post collision breaking. Further up the range you can get satellite navigation, alloy wheels , a panoramic sunroof. There are a lot of practical storage spaces all inside the car. Overall it has a great quality feel, all models have adjustable seats and steering wheel.
